Have you ever wondered if there will ever be PUBG mods available? We’ve taken a look at past responses from the PUBG Corp. developers to find out what future plans are in store for mod support in Battlegrounds.
Fortunately, it seems like support for PUBG mods will be added in the future. The bad news is that we do not yet know when they’ll be added, or what kind of tools will be given to the community.
All of the information we know so far has been provided below.
PUBG Mods Are Coming, But Nobody Knows When
The first piece of information we have to share comes directly from Battlegrounds creator Brendan Greene. He was the man responsible for the original Arma mod that PUBG was based on. Brendan Greene now has full creative control and even has his nickname, PLAYERUNKNOWN, in the title of the game.
Brendan Greene mentioned in a Reddit AMA that mod support for PUBG was coming, but there was no confirmed date for it yet. Greene went on to say that they have too many plans ahead for other work to be done, so inside talks on creating community modding tools hasn’t even started yet.
You can read the excerpt relating to PUBG mod support below, or you can check out for full AMA here.
Brendan Greene said, “No, modding support will not be available on full release. We have a lot of work to do before the game is at that state, but it will come, just no ETA yet.”
For those that missed it, Brendan Greene clearly said “It will come.” If you’re waiting for community modding tools, I’d say that it’s not worth holding your breath yet. You may want to keep an eye out on official channels for any news for future modding plans, however. Alternatively, check back here regularly for up-to-date PUBG news.
What Modding Tools Will Be Added To Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds?
It’s hard to say what tools will be made available to the public. The main reason for this is because not even the developers quite know the full plan yet. I do think that there will be some quite extensive tools released for the community, however.
If you go back to the origin story of Battlegrounds, it makes sense that fully-fledged modding tools will be added. Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds started out as a mod for Arma that was created by Brendan Greene. We think that Brendan Greene will want to give a special thanks to the modding community, so we may see future modded servers for games like Erangel Life, PUBG roleplay, team deathmatch mode, player versus AI campaign modes, mods for custom maps, and even custom weapons and vehicles.
We’re really excited to see what happens with the community modding tools for PUBG in the future. We could be waiting 2-3 years before we see the tools added to the game, but the wait will be worth it.
Are you excited for PUBG mods? We think that mod support could completely revitalise the game and open up tons of new fun gameplay opportunities.
